The True Cost of Bridal make Up

When I meet a bride for the 1st time I do a consultation. Asking here about her skincare, how much make up she normally wears on a day to day basis and what she would like to achieve for her wedding day make up! Then a trial bridal make up is done with the wedding hair style at the same time if possible. Once the bride to be is happy with her look. This is what i will use for her wedding day.

I decided to write this post so that brides can see a breakdown of what I use to create their bridal make up. Here is a photo of a bridal model and below the image I have listed everything I used to create the look.

Make Up Artist in Reading Berkshire

The prices are based on middle to  high end high street brands. The same longevity of make up colour would not be achieved by the lower end brands. The brands i would use are professional brands and I use them because of the high pigment colour in them and they stay on the skin longer so the bride won’t need her make up touched up for at least 12 hours (apart from the lipstick).

I love all things make up and beauty. Here are some of things that i will be using for a long time to come. They are not only amazing but they are part of my daily routine or make up kit!

In no particular order:

Zaggora – Back in the summer i came across a new company called Zaggora on Twitter. They had a products called Hotpants that claimed to make you lose 2 jean sizes in 2 weeks. I thought i would enter their competiton and see if i could win a pair. When they arrived i wore them everyday for 2 weeks and to my amazement i lost 7lbs in 2 weeks! Its stayed off too! I was over the moon to be part of their advertising campaign as well:

Niki’s Organic Balm – I have had a bad neck and back for years which comes with my chosen profession. I don’t complain, but i have discovered an instant cure for it. It comes in the form of a balm so i can take it with me everywhere. Within minutes of using this balm i could turn my head which i hadn’t been able to do for 2 weeks.

M2 Beaute – When i started using M2 Beaute eyelash activating serum my eyelashes grew so much that people noticed the difference. I have to say despite the price tag this is the best eyelash growth product i have used. As a contact lense wearer it is the only lash growth product that didn’t sting my eyes when i used it. Its a must have!!

Sephora Jumbo Liners – These are like eyeshadow in the form of a pencil. They are sold as jumbo eyeliners but can be used for eyeshadow too. These are great for speed and quick touch ups. Its such a shame we don’t have a store here in the UK! I have used these when i’m in a hurry and love them for that. They fit easily in your handbag too.

Glossy Box – This is a great way to trial new products without paying out for something you might not like. You pay £10 per month plus P&P and you get a gorgeous gift wrapped box of delights. I haven’t had anything i don’t like so far in mine. The Christmas box was red they are normally pink ones.

An Expert Lesson in Lashes with Louise Page

A few weeks ago I attended an Ardell lashes event hosted in conjunction with Louise Page International Celebrity Make Up Artist. It was a great night for all concerned I love Ardell lashes and it was a great to meet Louise and her team.

We all got to have lashes applied and Louise talked about the best way to apply lashes to yourself.

Here are her top tips!!

1.Measure
Before you do anything measure the lashes against your eye and trim to fit.
2.Mould
Give the lashes a little bend gently with your fingers-the idea is that by moulding them you make them more pliable and easier to put on.
3.Glue
Use a tooth pick to apply to glue so as not too load the lashes up too much-just a fine line along the strip is all you need.
4.WAIT!
The crucial part…wait 10-30 seconds for the glue to go tacky. This will make them stick instantly rather than slipping up your eyelid.
5.Look Up
Yes up-not down, by looking up into a mirror you’re more likely to get as close to your natural lash line as physically possible.
6.Apply
Press the lashes down from the outer corner inwards-this will ensure a better fit.
7.Make-up
Apply your make-up following lash application to blend everything in.

False lashes are a staple in most girl’s make-up bags these days, with no night-out look complete without a pair. However application can be easier said than done-(especially with the customary getting ready glass of wine in hand!) Often lashes are left till last and result in gluing fingers together-ruining pristinely applied make-up or just a last minute stress.
Luckily renowned make-up artist Lou Page has now shared the secret of that flawless finish, dispelling many common myths-make-up first/look down.?! Lou rates the Ardell lashes for easy application and with her top tips you’ll be a pro in no time . With Ardell’s huge range you’ll find styles for night and daytime looks and at £5.10 a pair and the notion that practice makes perfect there’s no excuse not to stock up!

Blinc Mascara

Stop painting your lashes…….Tube them!

I discovered Blinc mascara a couple of years ago now! I use it persoanally and professionally. Its great to use on brides who cry and don’t want to end up with panda eyes. This mascara does exactly what it says on the tin! I use it over the top of a thickening mascara so that I get fullness as well as longer lasting mascara.

Blinc’s mascara is the original water resistant mascara to form tiny tubes around your lashes rather than painting them like conventional mascaras. Once applied, the tubes bind to your lashes and cannot run, smudge, clump or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes. Blinc’s mascara will add both volume and length to give you a radiant natural look that lasts all day.
Only when you are ready for removal, the tubes will effortlessly slide off your lashes without the use of harsh makeup remover.

I asked someone on twitter (@frizzychick) to give me her review of the product. Here it is:

I have never been able to wear mascara, even expensive so-called waterproof mascaras, as they very quickly smudge and run and give me shocking ‘panda eyes’. With my pale eyebrows, I never really go for a big false-lashes effect with my mascara, so i wasn’t put off by the fact that you can’t build up this mascara layer by layer to lengthen. it went on really smoothly, dried very quickly, and once it was dry, it really did stay on without any running, smudging, nothing. It was a revelation. I tested it by wearing it all day – no problems. Taking it off is a bit time-consuming, but that is a small price to pay for the reassurance that I can finally wear mascara without looking like a clown after 10 minutes! Thanks for recommending it.

Blinc Mascara is available in Black, Dark Blue, Medium Brown, Dark Brown, Dark Green and Dark Purple.

Blinc Mascara is available from our store in the make up category! www.bridesandbeausty.co.uk
